Default Before & After using a Tutorial

I'm so new here, so if I'm doing things wrong PLEASE TELL ME

So I was thinking about uploading the pictures, but then I thought since it's already on my blog should I just post a link there? Since I'm the first one posting here I just figured I'll post a link to my blog in the future if you want me to upload the pictures directly on here let me know

So I was playing around with a tutorial I found and this is the outcome

http://amandagaribayphotography.blog...-tutorial.html

What do you think?

It is totally fine either way!

That is really pretty! I love the black and white effect with the dark background. My only critique would be to maybe try and lighten some of the shadows on her skin caused by the uneven lighting from the trees.

The "A Little Lighter" action would be perfect for this. Using a soft, round brush paint over the shadowed areas, then adjust the opacity of that layer down to where it blends in with the rest of her skin. Run the action again and lightly paint over her eyes to brighten them up a bit. Then adjust the opacity down to where it looks natural.

I like them both too. The b&w is more dramatic, but I enjoy the colors as well.

I agree with Michelle. Love the B&W, but her eye's have disappeared behind black shadows. Lightening her face would allow her eyes to pop a little more.

She is very cute. keep a watch for speckled light on your subjects face when shooting. Also try moving around your subject or moving your subject so you can get light their eyes. She has no catch lights.

What I do is find open shad where there is no speckled light hitting my subjects face and then have them face towards the sun so their eyes light up HTH.

That absolutely does help, Kelsey! I've sortof jumped into the photography thing w/me just going out and shooting.... haven't received too many tips from other photographers, and I DEFINITELY LOVE ANY ADVICE I CAN GET!

I might take my little girl out this evening to get some practice on her.
