Does the Camera Matter?

Does the Camera Matter?

Everyone wants to have great shots when it comes to his or her photographs! Your goal is to get the best shot you can get, but doing so is at the mercy of the camera, right? Not necessarily.  If you are a beginner you do not have to go out and purchase an expensive camera and assume that it’s going to give you all that you need. You can do great things with just a point-and-shoot camera, even the camera that’s right on your phone!

It’s all about creating a memory, a moment in time captured. You don’t need all the fancy equipment to achieve that! Remember, the best camera you can ever have is the one that’s with you!

Take Time to Learn Your Camera

Before you jump into an expensive DSLR camera, take some time and learn all you can about the camera you already have! Learn what the different settings do. On most point-and-shoot cameras you can adjust the ISO, exposure compensation, white balance, and a few other things. Experiment and learn what these things do and why they’re important. Pull out your manual and read through it! By learning these things, you will be a step ahead when you decide to purchase your first DSLR camera! When you are ready to move up to a DSLR, take some time to choose the right camera. Choose based on how you plan to use it and use reviews to help you to select the right camera.

You Matter Too!

The most important thing about a camera is what’s behind it! You are what makes the magic! Your knowledge and creativity are the key ingredients to a great photo!

This article is awesome Michelle. I completely agree…the most important thing about a camera is what’s behind it! And I must say, what’s behind the camera in your photo is just so dang cute! :)

I totally agree! Rock the camera you have! If those with P&S would learn how to really use their camera plus learn about light and composition, they’d be amazed with the difference in their pictures.

This also applies to those who already have DSLRs. So many people think that if they get a better model, their pictures would be better. That is seldom the case. Tiger Woods would still beat 99% of people with a set of 50 year old, flea market clubs. And, someone with $10,000 clubs still won’t play worth a darn if they don’t have the skills to do it in the first place.

  3. Great Article! Great line: “Remember, the best camera you can ever have is the one that’s with you!”

I always hate to see people jump from shooting in full auto with a point and shoot, to a nice DSLR thinking it will magically perfect their photography.

On the other hand, all photographers hate the line, “Wow, your camera takes nice photos!.” The best return I’ve heard is, “Thanks, your mouth gives nice compliments.”

As Ansel Adams once said, “The most important part of the camera is the six inches behind the viewfinder.”

    Thanks!
